Cast Iron Turning

Cast Iron Turning

Now there’s something new for the reliable smooth machining of cast iron: Two ARNO grades AK2305 and AK2315.
The advantages of the recently developed coatings include enhanced coating adhesion, an optimised orientation of the
crystalline structure to counteract crater wear and reduced residual stresses to achieve greater resistance to break-outs.
The excellent wear resistance of the AK2305 is ideal for the high-speed machining of cast iron materials such as grey cast
iron and cast iron. The combination of high wear resistance and high-strength coating in the AK2315 is the first choice to
achieve high productivity and long reliable tool life, even with interrupted cuts or unstable conditions in nodular graphite
cast iron materials. The two grades are available in the form of smooth indexable inserts or with an NMG1 geometry
which makes the AK2305 especially suitable for thin-walled components and long overhangs.
